First, please note that a good design for one outdoor lighting application can meet the needs of another application. For example, outdoor lighting designed to provide safety and security can also beautify the building.
Outdoor applications require lighting systems that have good beam control, high efficiency, low operating costs, long life, and are resistant to weather and vandals. At times, there's a need for good color rendition and pleasing aesthetics. And finally, remember that all outdoor lighting applications should meet the minimum IES-recommended illumination levels.
