Another type of available incandescent lamp uses halogen gas to increase
lamp output and prolong the life of the filament. Halogen light tends to be
sparkling white.
When you need a tight beam, for highlighting a merchandise
display, a reflector halogen will provide dramatic lighting with significant energy savings (you may find you can use a 90-watt halogen instead of a 150 watt conventional PAR). Halogens also come in non-reflector models, but you may be better
off in many cases to use a compact fluorescent which is much more energy
efficient.
